Most often, when people experience, Paranormal activity, they don't know where to turn for help, A survey, was conducted, in the mid 80's and the results came back that perhaps 1 in 20 who have had experience, with something they could not explain, came forward. At the time, there was not enough access to qualified research teams, and people where, still under the assumption that they would be exposed, as attention getters or even worse, be committed. The same survey was repeated in the mid 90's, and the results had changed, do to more research and society more accepting and understanding, the world of the paranormal, today 1 in 3 hauntings are reported. Most often people are told to go to a local priest, and that all hauntings can be removed by an exorcism, which in all reality does more harm then good.

In the past 2 decades, many research groups in the field of paranormal have sprung up world wide, but out of these, only a hand full are both recognized, as well as credible, some claim to be ghost hunters, and charge fees for their service, and most often, produce little results, even some have called themselves societies, and form ghost hunter conventions, you can find them next to the Star Trek conventions, because of such groups, actual real researchers, are often ridiculed.

The best source of help, is university parapsychology researchers, they are the only true experts in this field, if they are not accessible, and you do need to find another source, here are some things to look for, do your home work, look for references, and case files, interview the team, most of these teams have psychics or mediums, and historians, working with them, find out their back ground, any team that charges a fee, is not what you are looking for.
